Hello.

I'm Cali, and I'm a Freelance Copywriter.

I've been working in the world of copywriting in one form or another for over 15 years now. I've written copy for websites, catalogues and brochures, emails, social media, film scripts and direct mail; for companies such as Dixons, PC World Business, Asda and Beaverbrooks the Jewellers. As a copywriter, I really love writing about new things every day, and especially finding new ways to interest, engage and inspire your customers.

What is Copywriting?

It's a question I've been asked many times. (No, it's got nothing to do with copyright law!) A copywriter writes text (or copy) for the purpose of advertising or other marketing activities. I'd love to refer to Mad Men here, but I'm no Don Draper! Whether we write for digital, print, direct mail, email (or any of the many other forms of marketing communications we see in our daily lives) a copywriter's job is to distil your ideas and stories into persuasive, written content that builds brand identity, captures attention and ultimately provokes a response. Whether that response is to buy something, take an action, feel a certain feeling, or make a donation, is up to you. A good copywriter will help you tell your stories in a way that gets the right result for you.

A little bit more about me ...

I've loved books and writing from a young age, which led me towards a degree in Scriptwriting for FIlm and Television, followed by a career in Catalogue Production, Content Management and Copywriting. It's my ambition to have a book (or two) published one day, so I always like to have a couple of creative projects on the go alongside being a copywriter - oh, and my other full-time job of trying to keep two small-people alive. I'm quite pleased with my success at the latter.

Tell me about you...

Enough about me. I'd love to know what stories you want to tell. If you want to have a chat to find out how I can help you reach new audiences, you can get in touch with me at cali@wordsbycali.com

Huge thanks to the wonderful Belle & Boo for letting me use their lovely illustration in place of an actual photo of me. It bears a passing resemblance (if you squint). You can view the rest of their beautiful designs here www.belleandboo.com
